Tomorrow’s Readings — Pentecost 19
- Reading: Exodus 20:1-4, 7-9, 12-20 — The Ten Commandments
- Psalm: Psalm 19 — The heavens are telling the glory of God
- Reading: Philippians 3:4b-14 — I press on toward the goal
- Gospel: Matthew 21:33-46 — The parable of the wicked tenants
As you prepare for tomorrow’s service, consider the responsibility and stewardship inherent in the spaces we inhabit — both physical and spiritual. The parable of the wicked tenants reminds us of our call to cultivate lives of justice, patience, and humility, aligning our hearts to the divine rhythm that echoes through all creation. Hold close the commandments, the sky’s silent song from Psalm 19, and Paul’s relentless pursuit of Christ in Philippians.
A Prayer for Saturday:
God of the vineyard and the commandments, tune our hearts to sing your grace. May we honor the gift of our lives with the dedication of true stewards, tending your world with compassion and courage. Grant us the wisdom to hear your law as a call to love, and the boldness to chase after the truth found in Jesus. As the sky tells your glory, so let our lives speak your justice. Lead us to press on toward your upward call in Christ, awake to the power and promise of your Spirit. Amen.
